Falcon’s Flight – A Triple Record Breaking Coaster Coming in 2023

Ladies and gentlemen and roller coaster enthusiasts everywhere…coming in 2023 you may just find yourself heading over to…gulp…Saudi Arabia for an all-new record breaker. Six Flags Qiddiya, a brand new theme park still under construction near the city of Riyadh and set to open in 2023, recently released specs on its feature attraction, Falcon’s Fury, and it’s enough to whet one’s appetite for the ultimate thrill.

Falcon’s Fury is going to be one monster of a thrill ride, breaking three separate records currently held by three separate roller coasters. When it opens in 2023, it will be the tallest, fastest, and longest coaster in the world. The ride is currently being constructed alongside Tuwaiq Mountain, giving it some great atmosphere and adding to the experience by flying through a tunnel in the mountain at one of its fastest points.

Designed by Intamin, one of the premiere thrill ride manufacturers in the world, Falcon’s Fury will be powered by magnetic motor acceleration technology which allows the trains to reach a top speed of 155 mph, breaking the record set by Formula Rossa (145 mph) at Ferrari World in Abu Dabi, United Arab Emirates. The coaster will take riders on a three-minute ride through approximately two and a half miles of track, breaking the record of Steel Dragon 2000 at Japan’s Nagashima Spa Land (1.54 miles), and diving head-first into a 525 foot valley, smashing the height record set by Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey. Sounds awesome, doesn’t it?

Unfortunately, I don’t actually see myself ever traveling to Saudi Arabia, or Abu Dabi for that matter (I’d love to ride Formula Rossa!), but at least with the technology we’ve got today, we can all take a virtual ride on Falcon’s Fury even before the real thing opens. Check it out…
